Stephen Worthley

A Senior Associate of the Firm, Stephen is a Registered Patent & Trade Mark Attorney in both Australia and New Zealand. He holds a B.Sc.(Hons.) degree majoring in Computer Science and Genetics; an LLB(Hons) degree and a M.IP, which he completed in 2005.

Prior to entering the Patent Attorney Profession in 2003, Stephen worked as an Engineer in the Electronic Systems Division of Tenix Defence, primarily in relation to electronic surveillance devices.

Stephen’s practice specializes in the drafting, prosecution and litigation of Patents in the ICT, Bioinformatics, Life Sciences and Mechanical Engineering fields, both before the Australian and New Zealand Patent Offices and in the Federal Court of Australia. His work mainly focuses on the fields of electronics and microarray technology, DNA sequence analysis, mobile phone technology, software engineering and medical devices. Stephen also enjoys working on mechanical inventions mainly in the mining field and building materials. He also has a keen interest in the patenting of business methods.

Stephen also practises in the field of Trade Marks before the Australian and New Zealand Trade Marks Offices and in the field of Designs before the Australian and New Zealand Designs Offices.

Stephen is a Fellow of The Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia, a Member of INTA, a Member of the Law Institute of Victoria, a Member of the Asian Patent Attorneys Institute and of The Intellectual Property Society of Australia and New Zealand.
